Amanda Robertson

In memory of Matthew Hartman Robertson

For 16 years, Matthew was the center of our family. Not only was he the middle child, but he was the one who steered us as to how and where we’d go about our days. It wasn’t anything that happened deliberately; it’s just that his determination and passion for most things far outweighed ours.

On Monday, July 26, 2021, Matthew was shot and killed by a 15-year-old, and in an instant, the center of our family was gone. God willing, in time, we will be able to create a balance, a way to move forward navigating around this gaping hole of excruciating pain, anger, confusion, and regret where the center once was.

For now, we do what many other families in this country do, serve as victims who have to deal directly with the repercussions of our gun violence epidemic.

Reacting shows support for gun violence survivors.
