My name is Amber Ward. I am 26, and I am a survivor of gun violence. At midnight on May 25, my ex-boyfriend and I were parked in his driveway. Little did I know my life was about to change. A car had done a drive-by shooting, shooting up the car we were parked in 18 times. I ended up getting hit in my back left shoulder. The bullet ended up going through my lung and piercing my heart, causing a lot of other medical trauma, including a stroke, fluid in the brain, prevention of oxygen, blood clots and pneumonia. I am now considered legally blind and still have some weakness in my left hand. I’m so blessed to be alive I just want to be able to share my miracle story with the world. What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.
