My grandmother committed suicide when I was 4 years old. I can barely remember the events that happened at that time, but I know that her death profoundly affected my life and the lives of those around us. Her death by gun impacted generations. It negatively impacted my childhood, and the childhood of my brothers, sisters and cousins. My grandmother suffered from depression. If she had not had easy access to a weapon, our lives would likely have been profoundly different – and we would have been spared needless suffering.
