Andrew was a thoughtful, compassionate young man with an incredible sense of humor and intuition. He lived and worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant in the greater Green Bay, Wisconsin, area. Being a CNA gave Andrew a sense of purpose and great pride. His death was truly a loss, not only to his family and friends, but to his patients and the local community as well.
Andrew was shot and killed four days before his 21st birthday by a young man whom he called a friend. The gun belonged to the young man’s mother and was not in a gun safe but under her bed, with a box of bullets right next to it. The loss of Andrew shattered his family, friends and community. No words can describe the intense pain I feel, knowing how preventable his death truly was.
