Every day after school, I take the school bus. It’s the main form of transportation that I rely on, but today, because of an extracurricular activity, I was at school until 7:30 p.m., meaning I couldn’t take the bus. However, the news that I got when I left my activity was devastating. I learned that the bus I take every single day was shot at in Koreatown, on its way to dropping its students off at their bus stops. A student was in the seat of the window that was shot at, and thankfully they were lying down. Because of this, thankfully, no one was injured.

Despite that, this isn’t OK. I had found out about the Oxford shooting earlier this morning, and after hearing about my bus, I broke down. You never think it’s going to be you, until it is. No matter if it’s somebody you know, or if it’s someone from a different state, this is never going to be okay.

This is why we need Students Demand Action. This is why I started Students Demand Action in my school, and this is why we are going to continue to work to change gun laws.

Reacting shows support for gun violence survivors.
