When you walked into a crowd, you could instantly pick out Jermaine. He was insanely tall and slender, so he literally stood out in a crowd. It wasn’t just his height that made him stand out though; he could make a whole room crack up laughing and amaze them with his intelligence in two breaths. He was constantly curious and always looking to learn more about anything and everything the world had to offer him. He was devoted to the people he loved and a great friend to have.
I met Jermaine when I was a teenager. We grew a deep friendship that would eventually become a romantic relationship. When I found out I was pregnant in January 2020, we were young and scared, but we knew we would give our baby anything. It was a hard pregnancy, but he rubbed my stomach and told me how excited he was to be a father and to meet our son.
He never got to meet his son. Jermaine was taken from us on September 18, 2020, when his friend accidentally fired his gun. I was six days away from giving birth.
