total hearts received for Moments That Survive

Anonymous

Sixty years ago, I was an 18-year-old college student walking back a short distance to my dormitory after a study session, and I was attacked by two men with a gun. They dragged me into a car, forced me down on the floor of the car and then each of them proceeded to rape me. Then they threw me out of the car and drove away.

I survived but was hospitalized after this experience, and it has never left my mind in all these years. My family was devastated. Now I worry for my children and grandchildren and pray that they will never have such an enduring, traumatizing experience in their lives. Too many people have guns, and too many gun possessors have criminal intent. And too many people have ignored the lifelong trauma of survivors and those who have lost loved ones to a person with a gun. My heart goes out to them all.

Reacting shows support for gun violence survivors.
