In memory of Charlie

My younger brother was shot and killed by his best friend; it was a tragic event, in which a good person did a bad thing. That can happen when you have guns and booze in a house. The irony of Charlie’s death was that, at a going away dinner I held for him, he and his friend both argued against gun control, stating that if all owners simply had gun safety training, all would be well. I, of course, was arguing for more gun control — this was to be our last conversation! Charlie relocated, moved in with his best friend, and four weeks later, was shot and killed by his intoxicated buddy. Charlie was just 24, and sadly, 38 years later, there are a lot more guns in our society, while we continue to debate gun laws and fight the NRA’s harmful agenda.

Reacting shows support for gun violence survivors.
