We lost two children to gun violence. Paul, our only son, and Danielle, our youngest daughter. Paul was 37, and Danielle was 36. Both of them were so full of life and so loved by many people. I don’t think there is a word in the dictionary that could explain our grief. It’s beyond comprehension. They both died by suicide. Even though they pulled the triggers, they were helped by others in their lives. No one can tell me that if there had been stricter gun laws, they still would be gone. Unless you can give me 100 percent assurance that is the case, I will always doubt it. When people state that they don’t want their rights violated, I reply, Do you really think that any parent would care if their rights were violated? No, of course not. I pray that we can implement tougher laws.
