total hearts received for Moments That Survive

Anonymous

Well. When I was only 11 years old, my father shot and killed himself at home. He had found the pistol my brother was supposed to have hidden, I later found out. Then, about 20 years later, my brother, who was so smart and successful, working in tech, shot and killed himself at his home.

I have to try to live with both losses; his two sons do as well. I hate guns and will never have one. I understand many people feel they need a gun(s). I only ask for waiting periods, background checks (especially closing the gun show loophole) and bans on assault-type weapons. Those are all quite reasonable to enact into law. Why do our reps and senators ignore our phone calls, letters, emails, Facebook posts, demonstrations and marches? Please make America safe for yourself and your children.

Reacting shows support for gun violence survivors.
