I am 51 years old now, but about 45 years ago, a gun destroyed the world that I knew then and went on to affect more lives. My mother’s cousin, who would babysit me with her two children while my parents worked, was shot to death. It was a miracle that we were not with her at the time of the shooting. But that death destroyed the family that I knew at the time. The family circle that I had would soon be separated by that cruel act.
It also went on to affect one of her sons. He had a hard time losing his mother and did drugs, which one day would take his life and leave his son without a father. One death from a gun goes on to affect other lives years after the fact. I am all for gun control laws.
