On March 29, my youngest son, Khalin (26 years old) was shot eight times while getting in his truck. He was shot twice in the back of the head, once in the esophagus, once in the lung. One bullet went through his spine (paralyzed him); one bullet was one centimeter from his heart, and two went through his legs. This has changed our world and lives as we once knew it. At 26 years old, he has been hospitalized over 13 times in 10 months. He suffers with depression and different emotions.
In a matter of seconds someone took an illegal firearm and destroyed our lives. Illegal firearms must be taken off the streets. We are thankful that my son is alive, but we know these senseless shootings have to stop.
