After serving six years in the US Army and arriving home unscathed, I went to work in a local drugstore and was shot during an armed robbery. So was my store manager. The thieves were apparently undergoing a gang initiation, and the mission was to shoot someone. They got away with less than $23. I thank God that even though I was out of work for a year I am 90 percent restored and able to fully perform my duties. But I always wonder what senseless behavior could have been prevented; the same robbers were convicted of 13 similar crimes, and I relive this every time they come up for parole.
