I survived due to a scheduling fluke; had I not confused times for a meeting in downtown Seattle, I would have been in the conference room of the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle. And watched as Pam W. was murdered and Cheryl S. and others were shot. I’ve actually been in hostage situations twice, in war zones; but I never expected to watch a hostage situation unfold on the TV. I’ll carry survivor’s guilt with me for the rest of my life.
