Alex Teves, our son, brother, friend, hero, forever 24. On July 20, 2012, in Aurora, Colorado, Alex went into a movie theater and never came home. His life and 11 more were stolen so suddenly, so violently, so senselessly by someone who should have never had a gun. Alex’s final act on earth was one of pure love and heroism — shielding his girlfriend from harm when a single bullet fired from an AR-15 entered his brain, killing him instantly. We are forever broken by Alex’s absence and the promise of a long beautiful life that was stolen from him. The ripple effects from this tragedy and too many others like it are endless. In honor of Alex’s life, spirit and heroism, we commit to working toward meaningful change that will save lives.
