Cheryl Winters-Tetreau

In memory of Bill Tetreau

On October 3, 2015, my husband, Lt. Col. William A. Tetreau, took his life. His multiple tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan had taken a toll on his mental health; unable to cope with his civilian transition, he shot himself. He left behind family and friends who loved him dearly, and we struggle to this day to understand why this happened.

I believe that my husband’s ownership of firearms made his decision easier for him, and, of course, more final, than if he hadn’t had such easy access to them.

Reacting shows support for gun violence survivors.
