My son Joseph D. Aiello was shot and killed on October 4, 2021. He was 39 years old. His accused murderer had only been released from jail six weeks prior; he was a convicted felon of numerous offenses, including assaults on police officers, dating back to 2015. He was on unsupervised probation. This person then went on a shooting spree, permanently disabling another man and shooting at several other people and cars.
I have been told by the DA’s office that where and when the accused got the gun is not relevant to the case. I disagree and wait to see if justice will be done. The trial is set for April 2023. The heartache of losing a child to senseless violence, no matter what age, is one of constant sorrow.
