Since 17 of my classmates and teachers were killed in my school on February 14, 2018, Valentine’s Day will never be the same. Walking into a supermarket and seeing all the bright and colorful decorations reminds me of that day, and reminds me of how on that day, people will be celebrating love while we remember our loss. We will never get to experience the joyous, love-filled Valentine’s Days with bears, balloons, flowers and chocolates. Valentine’s Day is now a day of mourning, not love; it has taken on a different meaning than what it has always meant. Walking into school on the morning of February 14, 2018, was the last true Valentine’s Day I would ever have.
