Cortez "Poppie" Bailey

In honor of CORTEZ BAILEY

My only son, Cortez Bailey, was executed on a Chicago street on June 26, 2013. He was 23 years old. Cortez grew up in the area where his life was taken. I got no support from any organization in the area.

Cortez was a smart guy. Loved video games and liked to fix cars and electronics. He loved his family and his so-called friends. He trusted people and took them at their word. He was killed by person(s) he knew. To date his case is unsolved, even though people witnessed his murder. No one would come forth and ID the killer(s).

Cortez received his GED after his death and acceptance to an automotive school. Cortez was a respectful guy, even though he got too involved in the world. Should he be dead? No, he shouldn’t. Cortez’s death devastated his family, and it’s a daily struggle knowing he’s never coming back. This is my story.
