Daniel

In November 2018, I was shot four times from 10 feet away. I was at an apartment complex with a friend earlier that day, playing basketball. I was 23 at the time. After playing basketball we went and got food, and when I had returned to the apartment complex, I was robbed by three individuals who ripped open my car doors. All had guns. They ending up stealing my wallet, and some of my friends’ things; they ripped the car keys out and threw them after getting in a little argument. I went to be a bigger person and walk away to find the keys. I got 10 feet away. I was shot four times, leaving me seriously injured. The DA did no justice. There was no gun charge filed, and only an assault charge stuck. Living was extremely difficult, and I could have died several times. Little did I know that the health issues physically were terrible, but Living with PTSD is just as hard every day. I struggle, and I can’t forget the event and don’t think I will ever be able to. I struggle with sleep every night and many more struggles.

Reacting shows support for gun violence survivors.
