Hi, my name is Danny, and I survived gun violence twice. I am very fortunate and grateful to have lived another day. My older cousin, Tony Mendoza, unfortunately wasn’t so lucky. He was shot in the face and left for dead in 2013. Guns are everywhere, and the bullets are unexpected.
In October 2018, I was shot above my right ankle with a hollow tip bullet. It exploded my lower tibia, and I had to have hardware placed. Eight month recovery.
On April 3, 2022, I was struck again, randomly, but this time I was shot in both legs: below my right knee and in middle of my left leg. I had to have two blood transfusions. Now I am limited in what I do. I can’t jump, run, walk fast or play with my baby nephew or niece. This experience was treacherous. I wish this upon none. I want my story to be heard. This gun violence needs to STOP! God Bless.
