I was at the Gilroy Garlic Festival last year when my life and the lives of many others were forever changed by a mass shooting. I am grateful to be here today, sharing my story with you, because when the shooting occurred, I did not think I would be able to experience another day. My journey and those alongside me has been met with a lot of obstacles, but now I am devoted to spreading awareness and making sure these types of incidents don’t happen again.
