I was robbed at gunpoint almost six years ago, walking home from the library on my college campus; though I left without a physical scratch, that moment changed me forever. I dealt with post-traumatic stress for a while, and I still experience moments of fear related to that incident today. Thanks to loving and supportive family and friends, I healed and have grown stronger. I am motivated to take action on behalf of myself, my communities and folks like me who have had their sense of security taken from them. I am motivated to take action so that we can walk into a future without the fear of gun violence.
