Everett Mitchell

In memory of Everett Mitchell

I was nine years old when my dad was gunned down in our driveway. Someone pulled in about 2 a.m., and Dad went outside. He was shot through the heart — but that was the second shot. The first one was just under his heart. After they shot him, they just left. He lived about five minutes, if that long. This happened in Williamsburg, Kentucky, on June 23, 1983. To this day they haven’t found out who did it. I honestly do not think they tried very hard.

Reacting shows support for gun violence survivors.
