In memory of Charlie Jay McCord Triple J Initiative

My brother, Charlie Jay McCord, was murdered in his barbershop on October 14, 2014, in Montgomery, Alabama. He was a 35-year-old father of eight children. He had always dreamed of opening his own barbershop and worked hard to make that happen.

On the morning of October 14, 2014, which was also his son’s 17th birthday, he dropped his baby daughter off at my mom’s house and headed to the shop. A few hours later, we received a call that he had been shot. He died on the operating table. A murderer walked into the shop, shot him several times, and walked out, closing the door, leaving him to bleed out. His case remains unsolved.

Reacting shows support for gun violence survivors.
