In loving memory of Aundra “AJ” Lambert Jr.

On the morning of December 4, 2019, my life was forever changed when my cheerful, bubbly 20-year-old son, Aundra “AJ” Lambert, was murdered in a parking lot in Cleveland, Mississippi, by an ex-boyfriend of a young lady he had recently met.

AJ was a hardworking young man who had just started working. He was excited to be working and helping this young lady move out of an abusive relationship. His murder shattered me and has had a big impact on our entire family.

I will forever be thankful for the memories that I have of AJ — his laughter, his bear hugs, and his ability to have everyone around him engage in fullness of joy with the joy that he had. But there is not a day that passes by that I do not miss my baby boy. The holidays are hard as well as his birthday and, of course, Mother’s Day. It has been four years that have passed, and I still cannot make it through that week he was taken away without feeling extreme sadness. Losing AJ was like losing a part of me. I will never again be the same person I was before that day in December.
