My name is Jenifer Redmond. I am the mother of Sarayah “Raya” Jade Redmond, who was only 19 years young when she was murdered by a senseless act of gun violence at the Creek Apartments, off West El Camino and Stonecreek Drive, in Sacramento, California, on September 25, 2020. She was innocently visiting a friend’s apartment and watching a movie when shots were fired into the apartment.
My daughter was one of two people shot. She did not survive, and the other person who was shot survived and has not spoken. This young man failed her as a friend and as a human being, along with those who were also inside and have not spoken up, remaining silent. The person(s) responsible for this horrible crime have yet to be apprehended and continue to remain a threat to our children and society. A surveillance video was released by the Sacramento Police Department on April 5, 2021. Still no arrests have been made. Our community has failed by not speaking up. #justiceforsarayahjade #sarayahmatters
