Jilles Wetselaar

In memory of Trevor Wetselaar

Our son Trevor was taken from us in the violent brewery shooting here in Milwaukee, where he had been working for just 18 months. He was so happy to finally come back home to Milwaukee after six years in the Navy, where he served on a nuclear submarine. In those six years, he married a wonderful lady who followed Trevor everywhere the Navy took him. On their return to Milwaukee, they bought their first home, which they shared for just 13 months, until that awful day.

On Wednesday, February 26, 2020, he went to work, to start his second shift, never to go back home. He was a great, kind, wonderful man. That showed when people came to his wake from all over the United States: Fellow sailors, friends and family came to say goodbye.

It is almost two years now, but the hurt is still a big part of our day.

Reacting shows support for gun violence survivors.
