My son, Gregory Shallowhorn Jr., was killed on December 6, 2022. A 15-year-old robbed of his life by a 19-year-old in Moreno Valley, California. This is the sad truth of our generation.
My son will never give me a grandchild. He will not graduate high school, as he was only a 10th grader. He will not see any of his nieces and nephews that his siblings may have in life. He will not travel. He won’t even know what it’s like to hold his own baby in his arms. This is what gun violence and our youth have taken from my son.
I stand here as a mother who will live the rest of her life with a broken heart. Without my son, who deserves to live life and continue to keep the same beautiful smile that he always had on his face. I stand against injustice for all of the families and mothers who have to experience this pain. It’s unreal, it’s unbearable, it’s the reality of what our culture has given us.
