In 2013, my little brother gave me a call, telling me his mother had been murdered by her ex-husband. He paused and then let me know that our sister (28) had been murdered and our two little brothers (13 and 10) were in critical condition as well. The most devastating part was the fact my 3-year-old nephew witnessed this tragedy firsthand. I rushed to the hospital to find out that this madman had killed his girlfriend, her daughter (16), her son (10) and her daughter’s friend (16).
