My brother, after several unsuccessful surgeries, was in incredible pain, both psychological and physical. With no hope of having the pain abate, he put a gun to his head and ended his life. Seth had access to a gun, even though he was severely depressed and on multiple, self-prescribed medications that certainly clouded his judgement. He left a beautiful and loving family, and we miss him.
I had no idea he owned a handgun. I blame myself for this willful ignorance. I could never imagine this gentle man, who was responsible for saving so many lives in his role as an emergency room physician, would ever think to purchase a gun. I am so sorry for being stupid, unaware and oblivious.
