I lost my 18-year-old son to suicide in 2017. He had four prior unsuccessful attempts, but he got his hands on a 9mm handgun and was unable to survive the self-inflicted gunshot. He should never have had access to a gun. And while the passage of time has eased the pain, he is still deeply missed, and there is a hole in our family.
