On July 31, 2016, my son Donta’ was murdered by gun violence at the age of 22
Donta’ was larger than life
Family meant a lot to him
He was my middle son and my biggest cheerleader at life, as I was his
He loved his brothers so much
And his two brothers love him just as much
He was the glue that held them together
Life after the death is so hard
The link in our family chain has definitely been broken
Donta’ graduated high school and did one year of college
He felt like that wasn’t for him so he took up a trade
Welding and pile Driving
Donta found his passion at 22. He was in a union and working building the tracks for the train to run through Washington D.C.
I will never get a chance to see Donta’ reach his highest potential
Gun violence changed my family’s life
I am a Survivor
