In a matter of seconds, my life was turned upside down. One second it was fireworks, and the next we knew what it really was. Having my then fiancées body cover me from bullets and running for my life with friends is something no one should have to ever live through. Almost a year and a half later and there are still moments too painful, but trauma therapy has literally saved me from very dark times. However, there isn’t a day that passes where I don’t think about the 58 people that died. Gun violence is too real, and they did not deserve to die because of it.
