In memory of Dylan Michael

My son was a victim of gun violence on May 20, 2017. He went to a friend’s home to play, and the friend picked up what he thought was a BB gun behind a door in the basement. The child intentionally pointed the gun at my son and pulled the trigger. But it was a.22 rifle that was loaded, and my son was shot right through the heart and died instantly. It all could have been prevented if the friend’s grandparents properly stored their gun. My son would still be here today.

My son loved basketball and wanted to play on a team. As a family we look forward to every season of University of Kentucky basketball. That year, my son was a huge fan of Anthony Davis and all of the players on the UK team. One of my happiest memories is getting to take my son and get these players’ autographs with him. He treasured this basketball.
