On November 1, 2013, my oldest son was shot to death while protecting his brother. It was the day that changed my life forever. Never in a million years would I have thought that this would happen to me. My Willie was only 22 years old. The pain is like no other, and even though it’s been five years, I still relive that night like it was yesterday. Two years later, my 3-year-old grandson was also murdered. He was my Willie’s oldest son. My grandson was beaten to death. To have to live with this pain is unbearable.

I stand strong against gun violence!! No parents should have to deal with this kind of hurt. Day by day I wake up and put my best foot forward to be better and stress the importance of gun control.

Reacting shows support for gun violence survivors.
