In 1984, my father was shot and killed by his then third wife. He was 45 years old. It was ruled self-defense, and he was unarmed. To this day, 35 years later, we still do not really know what happened. The woman who shot him never attempted to at least explain the circumstances to us (I have four younger siblings). It’s left its scar on all of us.
