I never thought that my safety would be compromised in my own house. On July 28, 2019, that changed when a gunman entered the Garlic Festival and killed three people. The Garlic Festival was right behind my house. I heard the shots, heard helicopters and even saw the FBI drive through the street. The next day, I had extreme anxiety walking into a Safeway and I wanted to leave ASAP. I later found out that a friend I knew was at the Garlic Festival and was shot. No one should ever know what it’s like to not feel safe, even in your own house.
