Margaret Long

My name is Margaret Long. I was shot at the age 19, two days shy of turning 20. I’m now paralyzed from the bullet to my neck. What gun violence has took away from me is being the fun aunt, picking up my nieces and nephews from school and picking them up, playing with them. Now I put them in my lap and ride them on my wheelchair. They like the ride but don’t sit long. Family time is broken also. My story of gun violence has taken me to new places with Everytown. I also tandem skydive to get it off my mind. I miss writing like I used to. I miss just leaving out on my own without help or someone with me. Life is not the same as before I got shot. I miss playing with the kids.
