In memory of Jorge Alberto Perez

On August 29, 2021, my only brother was killed during a domestic call by a Falls Township, Pennsylvania, police officer. That fatal afternoon, his partner of 30 years and the mother of his five children was not happy with him and wanted him to leave his home. He refused to leave his home. Unknown to him, she slipped a note to their youngest, 19-year-old son to call 911 to assist in removing him from his home.

Unaware the police were called, my brother was in his bedroom when the police went to the bedroom. In less than a minute of interacting with the officers, he was shot dead. He was killed by a gun — bullet right through his chest.

This was a third-generation police officer. I really feel he got away with murder. He didn’t try to de-escalate the situation, and he took it upon himself to take my brother’s life without any remorse when he shot him right in the middle of his chest, instantly killing him. The cops arrived at 12:10; by 12:14 he was dead.

Reacting shows support for gun violence survivors.
