I was carjacked at gunpoint in my home parking area in 2007. Although, thank God, I was not harmed, it made me realize just how important this issue has become in America. When I was with a friend in Atlanta, I also witnessed a shooting at a restaurant centered around a domestic issue. Lastly, a very dear young friend and neighbor took his own life at age 35 last September. I cannot stand by and just mourn loss. We all have to take action if we are to end the epidemic of gun violence that pervades our American culture so widely. Individuals can make a difference if we care enough to stand up for what is right and for the safety of our future generations.
