On August 1, 2015, my life changed forever. My son was shot. About 1:30 a.m. I had a knock on my door to go to the hospital because Michael had been shot. When my husband and I got there, we were both told Michael had died. His killer has not been charged. Our family could have let this eat at us because our son was loved and was a caring young man. We started a foundation in his name, Mikey23foundation, to help young men and women get off the street and learn a trade. This helps our family keep his name alive.
