Monica Pirtle

In honor of Monica Pirtle

My name is Pamela Wooden.

On July 16, 2018, my daughter was shot and killed — a day before her birthday. My daughter name’s is Monica Pirtle. Monica has three daughters; the oldest one is 22 years old, the middle one is 19 and the youngest is 5. When Monica was killed, her daughters were inside the house. They heard gunshots and didn’t know it was their mother outside in the car with her youngest daughter and father.

Never in a million years would her daughters have thought that God was knocking on the door to let them know that their mother was shot and killed. Still no justice for my daughter’s life. It has turned our world upside down; it’s very devastating, trying to live a new normal life. I am raising her daughter. She brings so much joy to our hearts, but it is also sad sometimes. Now her 5-year-old is asking questions about what happened to her mother: Why won’t her mother come from heaven and see her?

Still no closure, no answer and no justice. Who killed my daughter Monica? Pray for all this gun violence to stop.

Reacting shows support for gun violence survivors.
