My brother Don was witty, humorous, loving and special, and an all-around “good guy.” He was all the things you’d want in a brother, husband, father and friend. And he could play an air guitar like nobody else! He was lost to suicide by violently using a gun on himself. Although I miss him every day, I choose to remember him with love.

My life has been forever altered by this one act. I continue to hope that common-sense use of guns, and efforts to keep guns away from those who would abuse them, will win out over the culture of guns for everyone! No one should have to find out the way I did that guns create permanent loss and heartache way too often.

Reacting shows support for gun violence survivors.
