At the beginning of Jason Aldean’s set, I separated myself from my friends to go and use the bathroom. Little did I know that when we would reunite, everything would be different. I was making my way back through the crowd, toward the place my friends were standing, when the eardrum-shattering sound of gunshots started ringing out from above. I could hear the bullets bouncing off of the stage and the sound booth near me. I could see people falling to the ground around me. I was alone in a sea of strangers.

My only goal was to get out and to get everyone around me out as well. I began helping those that I could up and out, all while moving in the direction of the exit. I remember feeling helpless, as if it were a nightmare I couldn’t wake up from.

I was one of the lucky ones; however, not everyone was. We gained 58 angels that night, and they will live on within me for the rest of my life. One day senseless gun violence will be a thing of the past. ? WE ARE ROUTE 91 STRONG.

Reacting shows support for gun violence survivors.
