My name is Pam, and I live in a beautiful oceanside community on the East Coast. One of the reasons I love living here is because in the summertime it reminds me of the beautiful seaside landscape I grew up around in California. I was so in love with the beach lifestyle.
However, one night all of the fun ended when I experienced a home invasion that included sexual assault at gunpoint. It’s important for me to remind people that gun violence includes so much more than just getting shot.
That’s why I’m a part of the Everytown Survivor Network — where all kinds of survivors are working together to end this gun violence epidemic we’re in. For years I felt like a “victim” and carried all of that shame inside. Now, thanks to the Everytown Survivor Network, I can feel empowered by carrying our important message and using it to effect change. Now I can call myself a “SURVIVOR.”
