Joe was shot and killed alongside his mother, Debbie, on June 9, 2023, by a father figure he trusted. Joe was a bright light in our lives (as cheesy as it sounds), always laughing and smiling (even in the worst of situations). He was so excited to be a new dad to his son Henry (now almost 2 years old) and loved to read him bedtime stories. My favorite memories live within the music we shared (early 2000s emo), the stupid games of beer pong and Guitar Hero, and his excitement to show me all the amazing things Texas had to offer. Joe taught me that I still had a shot to succeed, even when no one else saw it.
Every time I see your son, I see you. I promise I’ll keep your memory alive for him, and make sure he has a great taste in music. I’ve worked so hard to make you proud since then, I only wish I could’ve done it sooner to award you bragging rights. You weren’t just my brother, you were my friend.
