On February 14, 2008, I was sitting in my geology class at Northern Illinois University when a gunman burst into my lecture hall. I was shot twice but survived. Five of my classmates’ lives were taken that day, and an additional 21 of us were injured. Ten years later, on the anniversary of the shooting, Parkland witnessed their own shooting. I’m hoping that we can all end gun violence together.
