Imagine you’re doing hot yoga, you hear gunshots, somebody shoots YOU and then you’re dead from your gunshot. That exactly what happened to someone I knew on November 2, 2018.
On that exact date, I lost my former nanny, Maura Binkley, in the Tallahassee Hot Yoga studio shooting.
Maura was a native of Atlanta, Georgia, and was a 2015 graduate of Dunwoody High School, where she was yearbook editor and a member of the cheerleading team. She was a senior at Florida State University and was due to graduate this May. She was an extremely active member of the Alpha Eta chapter of the Delta Delta Delta sorority at Florida State and was vice president of chapter development.
Since her death, I have pledged to take action to prevent these acts of gun violence that are totally preventable.
