Sam Reed, Jr., 33, was shot and killed in May 1987. He was taken away from 15 children. His murder marked the first of three generations stolen by senseless gun violence. In 2013, the youngest of the tribe, Ebony “Ebby Faye” Parson’s life was shortened by gun violence. Then, in 2018, his grandson, A’Sharr Cox, age 19, was also killed by gun violence.
